ASD facts & figures release – features a space sector segment

ASD releases its annual facts & figures report, providing insights on the Aeronautics, Space and Defence segments. The Space segment data was provided by Eurospace according to the ASD specifications. The ASD report, prepared by a consultancy working on open source data for all segments (but space), only provides unconsolidated sales data for all business segments. In line with the ASD requirements, the space data is presented in its unconsolidated form (i.e. with intersector sales being double counted throughout the supply chain).

We invite readers not to be confused by this approach, unconsolidated sales simply accumulate the value of sales of all companies in the supply chain leading to a higher value. For the space segment the value of unconsolidated sale (i.e. total sales) is  12,5B€ in 2022, while consolidated sales (i.e. final sales) was 8,2B€. The 4,3B€ difference in value represents the value of inter-sector exchanges, or the value of the market for unfinished products within the supply chain.

Final (or consolidated) sales truthfully measure the actual value of the market accessible to the European space industry.
