Eurospace structure

Eurospace is structured to ensure effective representation of its members, strong governance, and coordinated action across policy, technology, and industry priorities.

Our governance framework combines strategic oversight, member representation, and expert-driven working bodies. The diagram below provides a visual overview of how Eurospace is organised and how its different bodies interact.

Together, these structures ensure that Eurospace’s positions and actions are shaped by industry expertise, validated through democratic governance, and implemented efficiently by the executive team.

President

The President of Eurospace is elected for a three-year term by the General Assembly. The President chairs the Council and represents the Association at the highest institutional and political levels.

The current President is Marco Fuchs (OHB).

General Assembly

The General Assembly is composed of all member companies. Each active and collective member, as well as ASD, holds one vote, ensuring equal representation.

The Assembly meets once a year, convened by the President. If the President does not call the meeting within one month of notice, one third of the voting members may convene it. A quorum of one quarter of voting members is required for the Assembly to proceed, and all decisions are adopted by a majority of the votes cast.

The General Assembly is responsible for:

Endorsing the composition of the Council
Electing the President, based on the Council’s proposal
Electing up to five Vice-Presidents, aligned with key areas defined in the Rules of Procedure, and the Treasurer (Chair of the Financial Committee) from among Council members
Approving Council reports
Approving resolutions proposed by the Council, including financial reports, budget for the upcoming year, asset management, loans, and Council membership renewals

This structure ensures that all members have a voice in shaping Eurospace’s strategic direction and governance, reinforcing transparency and collective decision-making across the European space industry.

Council

The Eurospace Council is the Association’s political and administrative body, responsible for guiding its strategy and implementing decisions on behalf of members. It reflects the composition of the European industrial space sector while ensuring geographical balance and representation across the full supply chain.

It is composed of up to seven members elected by the General Assembly, in addition to the ASD Eurospace Secretary General. The Council is chaired by the President and meets at least twice a year.

The Council oversees the overall functioning of Eurospace and ensures that the Association’s activities serve the interests of its members. Its main responsibilities include:

Defining Eurospace policy and strategy, subject to the powers of the General Assembly and ASD
Proposing the President for election by the General Assembly
Recruiting the Secretary General and coordinating their role within ASD
Appointing members of the Policy Committee and Financial Committee
Supervising Industrial Policy Committee activities and special working groups
Establishing temporary committees or working groups for specific issues
Proposing the annual membership fees to the General Assembly
Endorsing reports to the General Assembly prepared by the Secretary General and Financial Committee
Renewing Councillor appointments in accordance with the statutes

Financial Committee

The Financial Committee oversees the financial management and control of the Association.

It is composed of:

The Treasurer (Chair)
Two additional members

Members of the Financial Committee are nominated by the Council and endorsed by the General Assembly. The Committee ensures transparency, sound financial governance, and responsible budget management.

Policy Committee

The Policy Committee serves as the advisory body to the Council on political and institutional matters.

Its role is to:

Develop and submit policy proposals to the Council
Promote and support the development of European space activities
Facilitate the exchange of policy-related information among members
Consolidate common industry positions
Provide guidance for Eurospace’s executive actions

The Policy Committee plays a central role in shaping Eurospace’s advocacy work and ensuring strong industry coordination.

Innovation, Research & Technology Committee (IRTC)

The Innovation, Research & Technology Committee (IRTC) is the technology counterpart to the Policy Committee.

It ensures coherence and prioritisation of Eurospace’s technology-related messages and actions.

Its responsibilities include:

Steering Eurospace’s technology strategy
Acting as focal point for technical expertise
Ensuring consistency in R&D priorities
Supervising and managing ORDIN activities

The IRTC supports the competitiveness and technological leadership of the European space industry.

Task Forces, Working Groups, and Panels

Task Forces, Working Groups, and Panels are created at the initiative of the Policy Committee or the IRTC to address specific topics or strategic priorities.

These groups:

Are composed and chaired by industry representatives
Promote industry cohesion and collaborative work
Develop position papers, assessments, and reports for Council approval
Address emerging issues requiring focused expertise

They are supported and coordinated by the Eurospace Executive, which provides organisational, analytical, and policy assistance (including meeting organisation, documentation, coordination, and follow-up).
